Social Worker (St. Andrew, Jamaica) - SOS Children's Villages


SOS Children’s Villages is looking for:

RESIDENT SOCIAL WORKER – Stony Hill

The Resident Social Worker is responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising the admissions process and welfare of the participants of the association with a rights based and de-institutionalized approach. The Resident Social Worker serves as the main liaison with the local governance agency and is the point of reference with respect to child protection at the village level. The Resident Social Worker is also responsible for the overall management of the village in the absence of the Village Director.

Required qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of direct working experience in similar field.
  • University degree in social work or in any other psycho-social sector (i.e. psychology, sociology etc.,).
  • Experience in applying case management procedures, including social work methods and practises in the work with children and families.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Wide knowledge of children, adolescence, youth and family protection laws
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge of administration and finance to include report writing, dealing with confidential information, record keeping and budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of techniques for crisis intervention of children and youth.

  • Willingness to make a long-term commitment
  • Valid general driver’s license (would be an asset)
