Job Summary
Reporting to the Parish BCC Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for carrying out the activities of the National HIV/STI Prevention and Control Programme through face to face interventions with individuals and small groups; interfacing with marginalized groups such as commercial sex workers, people with the same sex preferences, and residents of low-income communities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Four (4) CXC subjects, including English Language and Mathematics

Plus
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ working experience in a similar position
  • Experience in attending nightclubs, bars and exotic clubs
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge of the HIV/STI epidemic, Behaviour Change, Public Health and Health Promotion
  • Basic interviewing skills
  • The ability to employ basic counselling techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
  • Good customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting face to face interviews with individuals and small groups to share the message of HIV/STI prevention, and assist them through the process of behaviour change.
  • Increasing the availability of condoms to individuals by establishing additional condom outlets or upgrading existing ones.
  • Assisting in organizing and participating in interventions initiated by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, or individual groups or organizations.
  • Conducting rapid HIV test and counselling sessions per health district.
  • Referring clients to health facilities for investigation and/or for treatment

Records Officer 1 (Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica) - NERHA


The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Wellness, with responsibility for the management and operation of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland is seeking a dynamic, proactive and experienced individual to fill the position of Records Officer 1 (PIDG/RIM 2) at the Regional Office.

Reporting to the Regional Epidemiologist the incumbent is responsible for the compilation, processing and
maintenance of the health records in a manner consistent with the medical administrative, ethical, legal and
regulatory requirements of the Authority.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) subjects at CXC/GCE O' Level inclusive of English Language and Mathematics.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ working experience in administration
Required Skills and Specialized Techniques:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • PC operating skills with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good time management skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
  • Maintains confidentiality of records.
  • Collate information into summary form as required by the Region.

  • File results in a systematic manner for easy retrieval

REMUNERATION PACKAGE PER ANNUM:

ENROLLED ASSISTANT NURSE (St. Ann & Port Antonio, Jamaica) - North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA)

 

The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, invites applications from suitably qualified persons with strong team building skills to fill the position of Enrolled Assistant Nurse (HTAC/EAN 1) for the Port Antonio Hospital and St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital.

Reporting to the Director, Nursing Services the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the
administration of nursing services within the hospital.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Enrolled Assistant Nursing from a recognized learning institution
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica as an Enrolled Assistant Nurse

Specific Knowledge Required:
  • Thorough knowledge of current legislation affecting the practice of Nursing in Jamaica
  • Knowledge of the Staff Orders for the Public Service.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting with the admission, discharge and transfer of patients
  • Assisting in explaining hospital rules and routines to patients
  • Sharing responsibility for a safe and comfortable environment for the patients
  • Assisting patients in moving and turning, getting in and out of bed, positioning and walking as needed
  • Assisting with the inter-facility transportation of patients
  • Maintaining personal hygiene of the patient according to the needs and condition; that is bathing, cutting nails, combing hair, oral hygiene
  • Assisting with the preparation of patient’s meals and in the feeding of patients
  • Assisting with the patient in dressing and undressing
  • Giving, removing and checking bed pans and urinals
  • Changing linen and making beds
  • Administering alcohol or tepid sponges to reduce body temperature
  • Collecting specimens of urine, faeces, sputum and vomitus
  • Observing temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressures of patients
  • Measuring heights and weights
  • Observing symptoms, reactions, attitudes and changes in the patient’s condition; and report to the Registered Nurse
  • Preparing patients for and assisting doctors and nurses in examination, treatment and diagnostic tests
  • Sharing responsibility for the control of infection
  • Preparing instruments and equipment for storage and sterilization
  • Sterilizing instruments and equipment
  • Sharing responsibility for keeping the patient’s unit clean and tidy
  • Assist in receiving, checking and storing supplies
  • Perform simple dressings
  • Administering medications excluding dangerous drugs as ordered e.g., orally, rectally or by injectionsubcutaneous and intramuscular and carrying out other treatments as assigned
  • Co-operating with other members of staff and accepting guidance and corrections
REMUNERATION PACKAGE PER ANNUM:
  • Salary Scale: $2,078,360 – $2,470,517 per annum
