Office Attendant (Kingston, Jamaica)

An organization engaged in industrial and maritime development wishes to recruit an Office Attendant

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing refreshment and meals for staff at meetings and carrying out messenger duties when required
  • Preparing and serving hot and cold beverages to staff and visitors
  • Maintaining kitchenette, appliances and utensils in a clean and organized manner
  • Checking rooms daily, removing used ancillary items; ensuring room is clean and tidy and ready for meetings
  • Serving refreshment when meetings are in session and lunch when required and clearing away when finished
  • Ensuring
    • Adequate items (tea, coffee, milk, ice, water, etc) are supplied and maintained
    • Bathrooms have adequate supplies of toiletries by conducting periodic checks during the day
    • Water is available 
    • Garbage bins in offices and kichenette are removed
  • Cleaning the refrigerator, cupboards, etc
  • Picking up mail and other supplies for assigned area

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Customer service and personal service skills
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • Food preparation techniques
  • Working knowledge of kitchen appliances and related cleaning devices
  • Safety precautions applicable to the duties
  • Health and safety protocols for handling food
Qualifications & Experience:
  • HEART level 1 Food Preparation/General Housekeeping certificate
  • Graduate of a secondary level institution
  • Certificate in catering from a recognised institution
  • Valid food handler's permit
  • Two (2) years working experience in a medium-sized organization

Assistant Housekeeper (St. Ann, Jamaica) - Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries

The Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant post of Assistant Housekeeper (LMO/TS 2) in the Human Resource Development Unit (Eltham Training Centre, St. Ann

Salary range: $14,567.00 - $19,591.00 per week

Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Housekeeper (LMO/TS 5), the Assistant Housekeeper (LMO/TS 2) is responsible for performing the housekeeping, dining and food preparation activities/duties at the Eltham Training Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleans dormitories and other buildings including kitchen 
  • Cleans and maintains bathrooms and ensures that adequate supplies of soap, toilet paper and hand towels are provided
  • Cleans tables, counter-tops, stoves and cupboards in the kitchen
  • Sweeps the immediate surroundings of buildings
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and table setting
  • Assists with the washing up of dishes, pots and utensils
  • Clears all garbage from the kitchen area and removes it to storage
  • Launders/washes and irons tablecloths and house linen 

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:

    • Pass in Grade eleven (11) Home Economics at high school
Or
    • Attained Grade eleven (11) Standard/Secondary School level
  • One (1) year's experience in cooking for large group
  • Food handler's permit
