Sessional Registered Nurse
Job Summary
The sessional registered nurse will provide support to the Occupational Health Unit to aid in delivering optimal care to those visiting the unit by delivering basic health related services to both staff and contractors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc in Nursing
- Registered with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
- Certified in BLS or ACLS
- Have a minimum of three (3) years medical surgical nursing experience
- Level two (2) certification in Emergency Room Nursing/Critical Care would be an asset
- Experience in Occupational Health & Safety is an asset
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carries out thorough assessment of patients who are experiencing urgent and non-urgent symptoms and administer treatment within the legal scope
- Identifies On-the-job injuries, treats and reports promptly according to policy and transports to appropriate facility for further management if necessary
- Conducts wellness checks at various departments during shift
- Identifies workplace hazards, reports and attempts to reduce risks within your scope
- Conducts regular follow-ups for workers on extended sick leave due to personal or on-the-job injury
- Conducts risk assessment as a means of infectious disease prevention and control
- Participates in company programs and activities that may include offsite functions
- Compiles, prepares and presents where necessary, health and wellness tips/information to be circulated to the general staff
- Assists in maintaining an effective and accurate medical record system
- Manages and tracks inventory of medical supplies
- Able to work at least three (3) duties per week, which may include nights and weekends
- Performs any other work related duties assigned which is consistent with competency, job function and position

- Proficient in the use of medical instruments and equipment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent observational skills
- Compassionate, patient and confidential in emergency situations
- Ability to maintain composure and work effectively within groups
- Ability to diagnose and make prompt decisions in emergencies
- Proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
