The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) invites suitably qualified persons to enlist in the JDF as a Professional Entry Enlisted Rank (PEER), to fill the following position:
Pharmacy Technician
- Nationality - Be a Commonwealth citizen
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate from an accredited tertiary level institution
- A minimum of one (1) year working as a Pharmacy Technician in a Pharmacy
- Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical inventory and records management
- Good knowledge of pharmacology and drug information
- Ability to read and interpret prescriptions
- Proficient in calculating pharmaceutical doses
- Excellent at maintaining infection control practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work cohesively within a diverse community
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to details
- Ability to operate in a team environment
- Excellent ability to analyze information
- Must be highly dependable and organized
- Must demonstrate the aptitude and desire to assimilate into military life
- Must be willing to work at other Military Outstations Medical Clinics
- In addition to the academic qualifications and competencies, candidates must be able to pass the assessment requirements for enlistment in the JDF.
- Supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling and distributing medications
- Organizes medications for Pharmacist to disperse, by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies
- Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and removing outdated drugs as directed
- Maintain a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments
- Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information
