ROLES AND FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
  • To support the Pharmacist in the accurate processing and filling of prescriptions.
  • Assist with picking and packaging and labeling of medications
  • Assist in the filing of prescriptions and other documents for the pharmacy.

  • Possess a Pharmacy Technician Certificate/Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of one (1) year working experience in a pharmacy environment.
SKILLS AND SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES:

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
  • Assist patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders.
  • Accurately and efficiently preparing prescription orders.
  • Create and update patient’s health and insurance information (profile in the computer).
  • Providing quality customer service to patients and other healthcare providers.
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into practice.
  • Enter prescription orders into the system.
  • Assist pharmacist with filing and labeling prescriptions.
  • Replenish shelves daily from excess stock and make note of low inventory for reordering.
  • Verify that customers receives correct prescription(s).
  • Prepackage bulk medications.
  • Compound mixtures or medications (e.g. oral suspensions, tropical ointments and/or creams).
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields.
  • Receive ordered stock and assist with packing of new goods received.
  • Assist with filing prescription.
  • Performs other duties which may be assigned by the pharmacist or supervisor.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions

  • Ability to prepare prescriptions efficiently and accurately;
  • Experience in managing inventory and handling OTC enquiries;
  • Dispensing prescriptions;
  • Interpreting, screening and resolving any discrepancies under the guidance of the Pharmacist;
  • Ensure maintenance of adequate supply of pharmaceutical items paying close items to stock rotation and monitoring of expiration dates;
  • Enter-access and verify data accuracy in computer system

  • Request goods from other location on a weekly basis or as needed to replenish stock;
  • Performs other duties which may be assigned by the pharmacist or supervisor.

 Job Summary

The incumbent will prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist. He/she should be able to measure, mix, and count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders.

Main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
