The Role
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) respond to medical emergencies and deliver patient care, support and evaluation in a pre-hospital setting, like on scene and during transport to the hospital. This generally includes assessing the patient, determining the proper emergency care and administering treatment. EMTs also help with transporting patients safely between hospitals and care facilities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
- Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
- Document patient information, condition and treatment
- Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
- Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-stocked environment for patients
- Operate and drive ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
- Provide basic life support and gather patient data
- Must possess a valid driver's license
A Little Bit About You
- Read, write and communicate professionally and effectively with employees and managers
- Write simple correspondence or reports
- Ability to bend, pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Demonstrate ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures and safety policies
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Current EMTs certification/license
- Current CPR certification
- Minimum one (1) year working experience in an emergency care setting preferred
- Must have sound oral and written communication skills
