Health Records Administrator (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA)

HEALTH RECORDS ADMINISTRATOR (HPC/HR 1)- Vacant- READVERTISED
(salary range $3,759,184 – $4,468,488 per annum and any allowance (s) attached to the
post)

Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Medical Officer, the incumbent has responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling the patient’s information system to ensure optimum patient care within the framework of the hospital’s priorities and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent
  • Training in Supervisory Management
Plus
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in Health Records, two (2) of which should be at supervisory level

Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Knowledge of Health Information Systems & Management – including the Electronic Patient Administration System (ePAS)
  • Knowledge of the methods, procedures, practices, rules and regulations related to health data collection
  • Knowledge in Medical Terminologies
  • Ability to analyze statistical reports and make recommendations
  • Skills in human resource management
  • Good interpersonal relationship skills
  • Excellent time management skills
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Planning, organizing, directing and controlling the functions of the health records department, so as to attain institutional goals and meet standards set by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
  • Supervising the daily activities of the different departmental areas and staff engaged in all aspects of health record keeping.
  • Managing in a creative, efficient and cost-effective manner, the activities of the health records department in accordance with established policies, priorities and regulations of Southern Regional Health Authority and Ministry of Health and Wellness.
  • Ensuring the timely and consistent flow of statistical information to the relevant personnel.
  • Maintaining quality control by periodical or routine inspection of work completed by the health records staff.
  • Monitoring and evaluating methods of control to maintain confidentiality and safeguard against any unauthorized access to or disclosure of information from patients' records.

Enrolled Assistant Nurse (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Lionel Town Hospital

Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the hygienic, nutritional, elimination, psychological and psychosocial needs of the patient and share the responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the environment.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A graduate of a recognized School of Nursing
  • Enrolled with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Thorough knowledge of current legislation affecting the practice of Nursing in Jamaica
  • Knowledge of the Staff Orders for the Public Service
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions, and to work under guidance
  • Conforms to rules and regulations
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Possess good customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Attending to the hygienic needs of the patient.
  • Assisting with the nutritional needs of the patient.
  • Assisting with the elimination needs of the patient by providing bedpans and urinals.
  • Assisting with basic counselling of patients such as comforting patients to alleviate fears.
  • Maintaining sterility of pick-up forceps and arrange trays and sets.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the storage room for sundry items.
  • Accompanying patients to clinics for procedures and other facilities for continuation of care.
  • Conveying/collecting specimen items to/from pharmacy/laboratory.
  • Making dressings and assists with packing drums, return soiled sets etc. to CSSD.
  • Performs simple dressings as instructed.
  • Assisting in admission of patients and ensures custodial care of belongings according to hospital policy.
  • Assisting in discharge of patients and returns belongings to patient/family according to hospital policy.
Special conditions associated with the job:
  • May be required to work beyond normal working hours to include holidays and weekends.
  • Light physical effort is required e.g. frequent sitting, standing or walking or a requirement for regular handling of lightweight objects.
  • Increased exposure to health risks.

Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the hygienic, nutritional, elimination, psychological and psycho-social needs of the patient and share the responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the environment.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Allied Health Care Assistance (Patient Assistant) – Level 2 (HEART Certification)
  • A minimum of two (2) subjects at CXC or GCE equivalent including English Language and a
  • numeric subject
  • At least one (1) year working experience as a Practical Nurse
Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Possess high integrity and ethics
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Possess good customer service skills

SPECIALIST NURSE (HPC/RN 2)- VACANT

Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Ward Nurse Manager, the incumbent will be responsible
for providing an advanced level of care to patients who have life threatening illnesses or have
specific health needs requiring specialized Nursing intervention.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Certificate/Diploma/BSc. in General Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Certificate/Diploma in Midwifery
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
  • At least four (4) years clinical experience in nursing

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice
  • Knowledge of medical machinery, resuscitative drugs, their dosages and side effects
  • Knowledge of basic principles of management
  • Ability of observe, assess, and evaluate life threatening conditions and apply appropriate interventions
  • Ability to make calculated and quick decisions and to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with members of the health team as well as patients and relatives
  • Emotionally and mentally stable
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients.
  • Anticipating potential nursing problems and developing appropriate plans to deal with same.
  • Initiating patient management in crisis situations e.g. cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Gardener (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Lionel Town Hospital (SRHA)

The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position at LIONEL TOWN HOSPITALGARDENER (LMO/TS 1). 

(Salary range $ 857,012 – $1,152,632 per annum and any applicable allowances). Reporting to the Hospital Administrator, the officer is responsible for maintaining a clean environment within the various areas of the hospital.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • School Leaving Certificate (Secondary Education)
  • English Language in GCE O’Level/CXC at the General Proficiency level would be an asset
  • At least one (01) year experience within the hospital environment or service industry

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Familiarity with landscaping equipment
  • Knowledge of gardening techniques
  • Knowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of the Public Health Regulations and Sanitation Guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral format
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Mowing lawns
  • Maintaining gardens and lawns, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning and applying pesticides
  • Pruning and trimming trees, shrubs and hedges using Shears, Pruners and Chain saw.
  • Raking, mulching and composing leaves.
  • Trimming and picking flowers and cleaning flower beds.
  • Gathering and removing garbage.
  • Operating and maintaining garden and landscaping equipment.
  • Ensuring all equipment for gardening are in good working condition.
