We’re looking for a Registered Nurse to care for our patients with compassion and one who can facilitate their speedy recovery as well as to supervise and uptrain Practical Nurses. The candidate will be responsible for educating them and their families on prevention methods and healthy habits. Ideally, the candidate should be a responsible, gentle and well-trained professional who can provide exceptional nursing care with minimal supervision whilst following health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently.   • Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care.
  • Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians.

  • Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patient’s charts.
  • Adjust and administer patient’s medication(s) and provide treatments according to the physician’s orders.
  • Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.).
  • Provide instant medical care in emergencies.
  • Resident Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' health status, including physical, mental, and emotional conditions.
  • Care Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents.
  • Expand their knowledge and capabilities by attending educational workshops, conferences etc.

Requirements:
  • University degree in Nursing.
  • Work experience: One (1) to three (3) years experience as RN
  • Proven experience as a registered nurse.
  • Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of emergency care.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.)and willingness to follow them at all times.
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Responsible and compassionate.
  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Patient with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Diploma from a nursing program.
  • A valid food handler's permit.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

HIV/STI Information Officer (MIS/IT 4) (Band 7) (Vacant)
(Salary: $3,501,526.00 per annum)

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the HIV/STI Information Officer will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading monitoring and evaluation databases that will efficiently and effectively track HIV (including EMTCT and PrEP), STIs and TB.

KEY OUTPUTS

  • HIV/STI/TB management information systems, user manuals and other documents reviewed.
  • Liaise with and guide firms/consultants undertaking software modifications.
  • Databases for project operations designed and maintained.
  • Software modifications monitored.
  • Systems are tested, refined and fully implemented.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Technical Responsibilities
  • Assists in the maintenance and upgrading of databases for HIV (including PrEP and EMTCT), STI and TB for monitoring and evaluating the National HIV/STI/TB programme at national, regional and parish levels.
  • Liaises with the health and management information systems of the Ministry of Health & Wellness and other related agencies.
  • Defines the feasibility to incorporate new information requirements into existing MIS of the HIV/STI/TB programme.
  • Propose terms of reference for major modifications of software to accommodate new information requirements for all databases.
  • Participate in the analysis of the feasibility to upgrade hardware and software according to the requirements for information systems.
  • Identify data/reporting needs for monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Train and support end users in data entry, data manipulation and retrieval of reports from databases.
  • Provide routine technical support for all databases.
  • Prepare a data management implementation plan for the relevant funding entities.
  • Assist regions, parishes and sites with matters related to the databases that are managed by the HIV/STI/TB Unit.
  • Liaise with key developers to trouble shoot and rectify back end technical matters affecting the functionality of the database.
  • Provide technical support and assist with the management of data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) for programme monitoring.
  • The incumbent may, from time to time, be assigned duties not specifically outlined within the job description but are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from a person occupying this position.

Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics, Health Statistics or related discipline

The North East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking a dynamic, proactive, experienced and analytical individual with strong team building skills to fill the position of Assistant Nutritionist at the Portland Health Department.

The ideal candidate will meet the following educational criteria:
  • Diploma or Associate degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from a recognized tertiary institution. Or
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from a recognized tertiary institution (Without approved Dietetics/Nutrition Internship or Supervised Practice Program).
  • Two (2) years working experiences
Specific Knowledge & Skills Required:
  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, principles, and applications of nutrition assessment and diet
  • counselling
  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, principles, and approaches of nutrition and health education.
  • Knowledge of the development of health education materials taking into consideration target audience, age, readership and literacy levels.
  • Thorough understanding of the techniques of programme development, planning, implementing and
  • evaluating
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral format.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Ability to make presentations.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Establishing and managing rehabilitation programmes for malnourished & HIV exposed children;
  • Supervising Community Health Aides (CHAs) regarding nutrition programmes;
  • Providing nutrition assessment and therapeutic diet counseling for clients with chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCD) including diabetes and hypertension and for persons with HIV/AIDS;
  • Managing the supplementary feeding and Replacement feeding programmes;
  • Providing basic in-service training for health care staff;
  • Providing nutrition education to clinic and public populations; and
  • Advising Government & other Agencies on appropriate nutrition programmes

REMUNERATION PACKAGE PER ANNUM:

Salary Scale: $ 2,795,163– 3,322,571 per annum
