Applications are invited from suitably qualified professionals to resource the position of Registered Nurse, Human Resources Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Assisting the Bank's Nurse with operations of the Clinic by:
- maintaining relevant equipment and instruments in a sterile and socially clean state.
- sourcing and ordering pharmaceutical items for the Clinic stock and the Sports Club and ensuring that these items are available at all times.
- maintaining records of all cases treated at the Clinic and preparing reports containing analysis of health statistics.
- preparing dressings and ensuring that they are kept sterilized.
- managing the inventory of the Clinic, ensuring supplies are within re-order levels at all times.
2. Assisting with medical problems occurring on the Bank's premises by:
- providing general nursing care/first aid to staff, pensioners and visitors.
- administering the necessary nursing care until the patient either recuperates or is transferred to a medical center.
- arranging for transportation to hospital or home for sick/injured personnel.
- drafting reports to Bank’s Nurse, on the sickness/injury of the person.
- following–up biometric screening of staff members by conducting weekly blood sugar and blood cholesterol checks.
- performing blood pressure checks where necessary.
3. Assisting with the nursing care of any official visitor to the Bank who becomes ill or injured either on or off the Bank’s premises.
4. Checking Food Handler’s permits for Staff Dining personnel, porters and Recreational Facility personnel.
5. Providing off-site inspection of the Bank’s caterers and reporting on findings.
6. Providing health assessments of applicants for the use of the Bank’s gymnasium.
7. Drafting monthly reports on the operations of the Clinic and inventory management.
8. Drafting monthly expenditure report and preparing annual budget for the Clinic.
9. Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A registered nurse from an institution recognized by the General Nursing Council of Jamaica.
- A registered midwife.
- The incumbent should possess post-nursing qualifications such as BSc. or Certificate in Public Health and/or Industrial Health and Safety.
- The job holder should also have a minimum of five (5) years experience as a general nurse.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Sound knowledge of industrial health care.
- Practical knowledge in techniques and practices required for treatment of fractures, communicable diseases, drug addiction, respiratory ailments and other common illnesses.
- A sound understanding of the Bank’s structure, system and procedures.
- A broad knowledge of the Bank’s staff demographical composition.
- A good working knowledge of the core workplace laws particularly those relating to Occupational Safety and Health.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
SPECIFIC CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB
- The work is carried out in a modern office environment.
- A fair amount of walking is required as the incumbent will be required to make regular visit to areas around the Bank.
