Health Records Clerk (Black River, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) - St. Elizabeth Health Services (SRHA)

ELIZABETH HEALTH SERVICES: HEALTH RECORDS CLERK (HTAC/HRT 1) – 1 Position

Black River Health District
(Salary range $1,792,163-$2,130,319 per annum and any allowance (s) attached to the post).

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Health Records Technician and the technical supervision of the Parish Health Records Administrator the incumbent will have the responsibility for organizing, implementing, controlling and maintaining the patient information system for the provision of optimum patient care.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Four (4) ‘O’ Level/CXC subjects; including passes in English Language, Biology and Mathematics
  • Clerical and/or computer experience is an asset

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Protects the security of the health records to ensure confidentiality is maintained.
  • Develops and maintains efficient and accurate filing and retrieval of health records.
  • Tracks and follow-up missing records.
  • Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Files laboratory/ other investigation reports and referral forms in patient/client health record.
  • Develops and ensures that the standardized numerical filing system of health record.
  • Maintains the master patient index files.
  • Compiles and submits Monthly Clinic Summary Reports, Sentinel, STD Syndrome and other reports.
  • Maintains the appointment system for the various clinics held.
  • Maintains the Primary Health Care Register for the health records department manually and electronically.
  • Responsible for educating other members of the health team on the importance of health records, with a clear definition of health records duties.
  • Assists with the smooth running of the clinics; directing patients, developing a system whereby the records are transferred from the filing area to the clinic area.
  • Responsible for the acquisition and monitoring of health records stationery/equipment.
  • Completes the list for the PATH programme.
  • Collection and compilation of data for clinical activities done are to be recorded daily on the specific tally sheets.
  • Retrieve health records to facilitate researches by authorized users/personnel.
Specific Knowledge and Required Skills:
  • Good knowledge of the methods, procedures, practices, rules and regulations related to health data collection.
  • Good knowledge of Computer Applications.
  • Ability to analyze statistical reports and make recommendations.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Good conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for working cooperatively with families in the community in order to identify health related problems and bring them to health professionals. He/she is directly responsible to the Community Nurse and is expected to work co-operatively with all members of the health team.

Specific Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of community health.
  • Practical experience of giving simple nursing care.
  • Good communication skills.
Qualification & Experience
  • Two (2) ‘O’ Level/CXC subjects; English Language compulsory.
  • HEART TRUST certification in Community Health Aide/ Healthcare Assistant.
  • Public health and/or service industry experience would be an asset.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach simple health facts to the people of the community he/she serves.
  • Encourage and advise parents and guardians to have their children completely immunized against infectious diseases.
  • Encourage the regular attendance of infants to the Child Welfare Clinic from an early age.
  • Give simple nursing care to those individuals where this type of care is indicated e.g. bed baths
  • Assist the Community Nurses and District Midwives in ensuring that all expectant mothers in the area receive adequate pre-natal and post-natal care.
  • Participate in information gathering or data collection activities.
  • Record feedback on health problems and related interventions conducted in the community.
  • Motivate and refer clients to health facilities for investigation and/or treatment.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in interventions initiated by the health department.

Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Parish Administrative Officer, the incumbent operates multi-line telephone system to answer incoming calls, directs callers to appropriate personnel; receive, log and distributes incoming mail to the various department; provide information/guidance to clients/visitors.

Qualification and Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) subjects at CXC/GCE O'Level inclusive of English Language.
  • Training in switchboard operating techniques.

Plus
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in PBX operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Receives incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of calls, and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department.
  • Place outgoing calls; ensure that a log is kept of all mobile and overseas calls.
  • Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.

Data Entry Clerk (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) - St. Elizabeth Health Department

following position at the St. Elizabeth Health Services.

DATA ENTRY CLERK – HIV UNIT (MIS/IT2) – VACANT
(Salary range $1,370,094 - $1,842,625 per annum and any applicable allowances)

Reporting to the Regional HIV/STI/Tb Coordinator or her designate, the incumbent is responsible for
the input, uploading and scanning of data into the relevant databases to facilitate the monitoring and
evaluation functions of the HIV Programme. The Officer will also support the implementation of the
Monitoring & Evaluation and research activities outlined in the work plan as well as strengthen the capacity
of stakeholders in data entry and data management by the provision of technical assistance
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field
  • At least two (2) years related experience
  • Data entry experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with the current HIV databases is an asset
Required Knowledge, Skills & Competences:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good time management and problem-solving skills
  • Able to respond to deadlines and prioritize accordingly
  • Be detail oriented and highly confidential

Key Responsibilities will include:
  • Performing data entry in several different databases including highly confidential information
  • Providing data entry support to Sub-Recipients in the HIV Response
  • Assisting with the gathering/collation of data and data collection forms from various sources
  • Performing validation and verification of data entry forms with documentation of findings
  • Collaborating with professional staff and field officers in the collection, collation, and analysis of data from M & E system including data for donor reporting.
  • Participating in training workshops to build capacity in Data Quality among sub-recipients and other stakeholders
  • Working closely with the Regional M & E Officer and Regional Data Manager to prepare reports
  • Performing duplication checks on data entry forms
  • Performing simple systems administration duties such as backing up databases, internet search, and antivirus updates etc.
  • Performing general office administrative duties such as taking messages, preparing reports, liaising with other component staff
  • Assisting with other statistical updating exercises undertaken by the Unit

Clinic Attendant (Black River, St. Elizabeth Jamaica) - Southern Regional Health Authority

ELIZABETH HEALTH SERVICES: CLINIC ATTENDANT (FEMALE)

Under the general supervision of the Public Health Nurse, the incumbent will be responsible
for performing support functions as it relates to the day-to-day operations at the Health
Centre.

Qualification and Experience:
  • School Leaving Certificate (Secondary Education)
  • English Language in GCE O’Level/CXC at the General Proficiency level would be an asset
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with the ushering of patients and maintaining order in the waiting areas
  • Lifting patients to stretchers and wheelchairs when the need arises
  • Ensuring that the building is opened on time and is securely locked at the end of the day
  • Ensuring the general upkeep of the grounds and buildings; bushing and weeding of grounds, cleaning of high windows and walls, etc.
  • Reporting any problems that may affect the smooth flow of work.
