Receptionist (Kingston, Jamaica) - University Hospital of the West Indies

 

UHWI Private Wing, Tony Thwaites Wing invites applications from suitably qualified person to fill the full-time position of RECEPTIONIST (Temporary). The Receptionist will be responsible for greeting visitors and delivering exceptional customer service assistance at the Front Desk.

Responsibilities:

  • Being a customer service agent to patients visitors, staff and members of the clinical team
  • Greeting and acknowledging patients, visitors and other clients to the Wing
  • Answering, screening and forwarding incoming calls
  • Receiving, screening and forwarding incoming  and outgoing mail
  • Coordinating transportation arrangements
  • Logging and distributing cheques
  • Maintaining office security and safety procedures as per established protocols

Required Competencies:
  • Strong customer service an interpersonal skills
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Five (5) GCE/CSEC subjects including English and Mathematics
  • Certified training in customer service would be preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Medical Receptionist - Temporary (Kingston, Jamaica)

A busy internal medicine sub-specialty practice located in Kingston 6, equipped with state of the art practice management systems, tools and procedures, is seeking a temporary medical receptionist with strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills, computer literate, adaptable to new situations and a strong commitment to excellence in client care. 

Period: September - December 2023

Mondays to Fridays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Duties:

  • Register patients (new and follow-up), respond to general queries, telephone and small messages, reports and correspondence in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Maintain and update electronic and paper medical records including entering, scanning and uploading data and preparing charts
  • Assist with clinical procedures, patient education and support efforts
  • Manage collections and billing for patient services
  • Monitor/manage inventory, ordering and stocking of clinical supplies 
  • Assist with general facility oversight

Technical/Functional Competencies required:
  • Certification in medical reception, customer service or administration (CPS/CAP)
  • Experience in medical office reception/administration
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with technical tools including point-of-sale applications and electronic medical records
  • Nursing qualifications would be an asset

Medical Receptionist/Transcriptionist

The Medical Receptionist/Transcriptionist is the client’s first point of contact with X-Ray and Diagnostic Ultrasound Consultants Limited. This person is responsible for managing the appointment system, ensuring that patients are properly registered, maintaining patient records, processing and recording payments, typing and issuing of reports, completion of the Daily Report among other duties.


Key Competencies/Abilities:

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to type at a rate of at least 60 words per minute.
  • Excellent communication and client relations skills.
  • Ability to manage time well, work independently and multi-task.
  • Education and Experience:
