Receptionist (Kingston, Jamaica) - University Hospital of the West Indies

 

UHWI Private Wing, Tony Thwaites Wing invites applications from suitably qualified person to fill the full-time position of RECEPTIONIST (Temporary). The Receptionist will be responsible for greeting visitors and delivering exceptional customer service assistance at the Front Desk.

Responsibilities:

  • Being a customer service agent to patients visitors, staff and members of the clinical team
  • Greeting and acknowledging patients, visitors and other clients to the Wing
  • Answering, screening and forwarding incoming calls
  • Receiving, screening and forwarding incoming  and outgoing mail
  • Coordinating transportation arrangements
  • Logging and distributing cheques
  • Maintaining office security and safety procedures as per established protocols

Required Competencies:
  • Strong customer service an interpersonal skills
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Five (5) GCE/CSEC subjects including English and Mathematics
  • Certified training in customer service would be preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The Tony Thwaites Wing is a 51-bed medical and surgical facility affiliated with the University Hospital of the West Indies. It facilitates the provision of private healthcare to local, regional and other international patients.

 Minimum Required Education & Experience:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
  • Certificate/Diploma/BSc in General Nursing fro an accredited School of Nursing
  • At least two (2) years experience in the area of specialty
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Current BLS, EKG and ACLS certification (where applicable)
  • Able to work 12 hours shifts, weekends, holidays

Unit Secretary (Kingston, Jamaica) - UHWI Private Wing - Tony Thwaites Wing


 UHWI Private Wing, Tony Thwaites Wing invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the permanent full-time position of Unit Secretary (Night shift).

Reporting to the Patient Care Supervisor, the Unit Secretary provides administrative and customer service support to patients, visitors and medical staff at the Nurses Station.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Organizing and maintaining accurate patient files and records
  • Coordinating arrangements for patient appointments
  • Accurately updating patient records for billing purposes
  • Ensuring the completion of tasks to the desired outcome e.g. samples are delivered to laboratory intact and results are returned on time; tasks arising in each shift are completed with minimal hand-over to the oncoming shift 
  • Performing Receptionist tasks

The Concierge Officer will be responsible for coordinating the customer service and concierge needs of patients and their family members, doctors and visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating concierge services for local and international patients and their family members 
  • Acting as a central point of contact for Admitting Consultants and coordinating concierge needs
  • Acting as a liaison between the administrative and nursing staff regarding customer service needs of patients and families
  • Addressing the customer service needs of patients and family members, doctors and visitors

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the positions of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians at the University Hospital of the West Indies for working full time and on sessional basis.

Pharmacist

Under the general supervision of the Director - Pharmacy Services, the incumbent will be expected to perform duties and functions of registered Pharmacists, according to laws and regulations covering the practice of the pharmacy in Jamaica. Viz; The Pharmacy Act 1966, The Food and Drug Act 1964 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1948 and their regulations.

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • BSc in Pharmacy from an accredited institution
  • Current registration with the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica
  • At least one (1) year posts registration experience
  • Must be able to work on shift
  • Hospital pharmacy experience would be an asset or familiarity with hospital pharmacies

Billing Clerk (Kingston, Jamaica) - UHWI


The Billing Clerk is responsible for preparing accurate data entry for patient charges and providing support to the billing process. The Billing Clerk also provides support to the delivery of customer service excellence within the Wing for internal band external customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Entering charges for clinical and non-clinical services provided to patients
  • Preparing interim bills
  • Preparing monthly statistical reports
  • Any other duties consistent with the nature of the job


Qualifications and Experience:
This position requires the following minimum qualifications:
