REGIONAL COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH OFFICER (HPC/RN 5 – Level 14)
(Salary range $6,289,384 – $7,476,101 per annum and any applicable allowances)

Under the supervision of the Regional Psychiatrist, the incumbent has responsibility for
administering a comprehensive mental health programme for the mentally ill and emotionally
disturbed clients in the Southern Region, as well as administering the community mental health
service and providing clinical supervision for mental health officers in the Southern Region.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a professional nurse
  • Training in Post Basic Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent
  • Certificate in Advanced Nursing Administration or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica as a Registered Nurse
  • At least seven (7) years experience in Community Psychiatric Nursing
Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Knowledge of modern psychiatric nursing theory and practice
  • Knowledge of recent developments in the field of professional nursing and in the care and treatment of the mentally ill
  • Ability to supervise professional staff
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with subordinates, various community groups and medical officers
  • Ability to plan and organize training seminars and to utilize effective instructional methods
  • Skills in public speaking
  • Good physical health and emotional stability

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of programmes for the early detection and treatment of the mentally ill.
  • Monitoring the activities of Mental Health Officers by assessing the psychiatric treatment and nursing care giving advice and guidance on patients’ response to treatment, family and community participation in treatment process, and other relevant aspects of the care delivered
  • Analysing reports of Mental Health Officers and evaluating the standard of care, rehabilitative methods and the availability of service to the community.
  • Assessing the level of family and community participation and recommending changes for improvement.
  • Organizing and implementing training and educational programmes for staff and community members and lectures at seminars and workshops.
  • Evaluating the performance of Mental Health Officers and other members of the team.
  • Providing counselling at the individual, group and family levels for clients, their relatives and other community members.
  • Consulting with the medical team and other health officials in the management of the mentally ill.
  • Liaising with social agencies, security personnel and other community members regarding the implementation of strategies to bring patients to early treatment.
  • Establishing and maintaining co-operative working relationships with community groups, voluntary organizations and medical personnel working in the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
  • Explains hospital rules and routines to patients.
  • Shares responsibility for a safe and comfortable environment for the patient,
  • Assists in moving and turning, getting in and out of bed, positioning and walking as needed.
  • Assists with the transportation of patients.
  • Maintains personal hygiene of the patient according to the needs and condition, for example, bathing, cutting nails, combing hair, oral hygiene.
  • Assists with the preparation of patients’ meals and in the feeding of patients.
  • Assists the patient in dressing and undressing.
  • Gives, removes, and cleans bedpans and urinals,
  • Charges linen and makes beds.
  • Carries out last offices.
  • Administers alcohol or tepid sponges to reduce body temperature.

The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and
Wellness, with responsibility for the management and delivery of Public Health Services within the

the position of Gardener/Groundsman at the Port Maria Hospital.

The ideal candidate must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Performing high dusting as required by supervisor or designate.
  • Keeping windows clean.
  • Regularly cleaning outside drains and grease traps.
  • Performing any other duties as required by the Maintenance Supervisor.
REMUNERATION PACKAGE PER ANNUM:
  • Salary Scale: $ 857,012 – 1,152,632 per annum

Childcare & Household Coordinator (St. Ann, Jamaica) Visas required

A private family is looking for a bi-lingual (Spanish & English), fun, friendly, highly organized, dependable, very energetic and experienced Nanny to help look after two (2) children ages, 3 and 5.


CHILDCARE & HOUSEHOLD COORDINATOR

The role is full time and requires the right candidate to be extremely flexible. The standard hours are 7 am to 7 pm, 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, however the incumbent may be required to work longer or shorter hours depending on the time of year. The primary location is in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica but will require regular International Travel with the family including a minimum of 3 months spent in the UK annually.

In addition to public holidays, the incumbent will be entitled to fifteen (15) additional days annual leave to be ideally taken during the months of October to May.

The role would be a live in Nanny role and all meals would be covered during working hours.

CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for dressing the children each morning, supervising basic hygiene practices like brushing of the teeth, washing hands and face and preparing for school or any other activities.
  • Responsible for the preparation of school packed lunches and ensuring the children's school bags are prepared and the necessary home work is done prior.
  • Responsible for collecting the children from school and preparing them for afternoon activities including ensuring any homework given is completed.
  • Ensuring the children have daily baths, also ensuring medication is taken where needed and preparing them for bed, which may also include reading stories.
  • When the children are not being supervised the incumbent will be required to do some light housekeeping work and ensure their toys, clothes and things are cleaned and kept in a good organised manner. This will also include doing laundry.
  • While the family has a full time chef while in Jamaica, when traveling the incumbent will need to be able to do basic cooking of healthy meals and snacks.
  • Plan and organise all the children’s extracurricular activities.
  • Be creative to plan play time, whether it be arts and crafts or any other fun activities that will enable the children to develop their skills.

SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Extensive experience (minimum 3 years) working with young children, whether as an Early Childhood Educator or a professional Nanny.
  • Ability to obtain travel documents (Passport and Visas that allows travel to the UK, EU and US)
  • Fluency in Spanish & English is preferred
  • You will need to be very organised and enable a structured yet fun environment.
  • You need to have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • You need to have an ability to swim
  • Driving is a plus but not a requirement
  • Proficient knowledge of housekeeping and meal preparation
  • Proficient knowledge of home safety and first aid
  • Good moral character and pleasant disposition.
  • Physically fit, energetic, agile and dexterous.
