Job Summary:
The incumbent under the general supervision of the Head Cook will perform various routine manual work
in a supportive role to kitchen staff in the preparation of meals, ingredients and cleaning tasks to ensure
the kitchen remains efficient in creating and delivering meals.

Specific Knowledge Required
  • Knowledge of food supplies, methods and equipment used in preparing food in large quantities and the use and care of utensils and kitchen equipment
  • Some knowledge of food values and nutrition
  • Ability to supervise and instruct employees in food preparation
  • Ability to adapt to changes and new tasks
  • Ability to work long hours while standing and under conditions of high temperature
  • Good oral communication and human relations skills
Qualification and Experience
  • Completion of Secondary Education
  • At least two (2) CSEC /GCE O’Level subjects
  • Certificate in Commercial Food Preparation – Level 2 (HEART /NSTA Trust)
  • Valid Food Handlers’ Permit
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
  • Assist Head Cook with food preparation such as washing, chopping and sorting ingredients
  • Adheres to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards. Place food on the serving counter or meal assembly line during meal hours.
  • Receives, checks and keeps inventory of kitchen equipment
  • Wash cooking utensils and cookware etc.
  • Sweep, mops and clean kitchen Ensuring that food preparation areas are clean

Administrative Assistant (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Percy Junor Hospital (SRHA)

Job Summary

Responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support to the Chief Executive
Officer in the general co-ordination of all aspects of the delivery of health care within the hospital.
Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Business Administration/Certificate in Administrative Managemen (MIND) Levels 1 -3 or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ working experience as an Administrative Assistant to a Senior Manager.
Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written format with persons at all levels
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizing abilities

Key Responsibilities will include:
  • Provides assistance to the Chief Executive Officer in co-ordinating/monitoring the delivery of health care within the Region. Liaise with Senior Managers accordingly.
  • Provides administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer. This includes:
    • Collecting/collating data
    • Assisting in compiling reports
    • Handling correspondence
    • Maintaining an appointment diary
  • Ensures office keys are securely stored.
  • Requests petty cash to purchase emergency and urgent items for the Administration Department.
  • Manages the booking of the Conference Room and ensure it is well maintained.
  • Establishes a centralized information data-base for the hospital. Monitors and updates accordingly.
  • Maintains a complaints file. Liaises with the Patients Affairs Officer and Senior
  • Customer Care Officer in respect of follow-up action.
  • Assists with monitoring a variety of long and short-term projects/programmes within the Region. Liaises with unit heads accordingly

Infection Control Nurse (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Percy Junor Hospital

 


The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position at PERCY JUNOR HOSPITAL: INFECTION CONTROL NURSE (HPC/RN 4) – VACANT (salary range $5,423,316 - $6,446,618 per annum plus any allowance (s) attached to the post).

Job Purpose
Within the scope of the infection control team the post holder will operationally lead the prevention and control of infection within the assigned institution by:
  • Directing and administering Infection Control programmes for Nursing, Medical, Paramedical and other support groups in the health facility
  • Providing infection prevention and control advice and support to staff, patients and visitors
  • Leading the development of education and training programmes for all disciplines of staff in relation to infection control to improve compliance with a focus on best practice.
  • Leading the development, implementation and auditing of infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Identifying the occurrence of outbreaks and investigating disease patterns

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience.
  • Certificate in Midwifery or other post basic nursing course
  • Specialized training in Infection Control
  • Certificate in Nursing Management
Plus
  • Three (3) years professional practice at a supervisory level
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
A. Management/Administration
  • Leads the development of an annual Infection Prevention and Control work plan reflecting the priorities identified through the audits conducted
  • Leads the compilation of Infection Control Reports as appropriate
  • Reports to relevant authorities i.e. Hospital Administration, Regional Health Authority, and Ministry of Health Epidemiology Unit on weekly/ monthly basis reportable diseases and infections, and interventions such as eradication and fumigation.
  • Leads the development and implementation of an annual audit (more frequent if necessary). This includes development of audit tools, data collection, analysis and dissemination.
  • Contributes to and participates in national programmes of audit and research on communicable and non-communicable diseases.
B. Clinical
  • Provides infection control advice, support and information to all healthcare personnel, patients and visitors to minimize the spread of infection.
  • Conducts active surveillance throughout the health facility to detect and record the occurrence of hospital acquired infections on a systematic and current basis.
  • Provides relevant information to patients, relatives and carers who have acquired an infection whilst in hospital e.g. the need for barrier nursing and the management of an infection within the family context to prevent spread.
  • Takes lead responsibility for the Infection Control Manual
C. Education & Training
  • Develops training programmes in keeping with local priorities and national directives
  • Conducts education and training programmes for all levels and disciplines of staff
  • Provides infection control resources for staff, patients and visitors and promotes interest in the control of infection.
  • Educates, advises and informs patients, visitors and members of the general public on
 infection prevention and control
TECHNICAL/ FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge of Public Health and Epidemiology
  • Knowledge of current trends in Infection Prevention and Control
  • Skill in conducting audits of compliance
  • Ability to institute and conduct Risk Assessment
  • Knowledge of techniques for data collection.
  • Skill in conducting disease surveillance

Job Summary:

Qualifications and Experience:
  • School Leaving Certificate (Secondary Education)

  • Be physically fit and able to bend, stand and lift.

  • Assigned to work with ambulance service periodically
  • Required to deliver items from one area of the hospital to another
  • Required to assist in maintaining the hospital buildings and compound by assisting in the cleaning of same
  • Required to empty and clean all garbage receptacles and replace them in their appropriate areas
  • Required to clean and keep in good condition, all the tools he has to work with e.g. Wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Customer Care Officer will be responsible for
coordinating and facilitating the value chain elements of Direct Customer Interface, Complaints Management, Service Delivery Operations, Service Awareness Creation and Service Expectation Identification.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Management or related field

Duties and responsibilities
  • Makes cribs and bassinettes where necessary

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for
providing clerical support to the Operations Manager as it relates to compiling of

Minimum Qualification and Experience:
  • Minimum four (4) subjects at GCE O’Level/CXC General Proficiency level inclusive of English Language and Mathematics.

  • Compiles reports from existing records including Drivers’ Checklist Daily Assignment
  • Takes and transcribes minutes of meetings: security, other contractors, project team etc.
