Hospital Attendant - Male (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) - Black River Hospital (SRHA)

SRHA seeks a hospital attendant - Male (Housekeeping)


HOSPITAL ATTENDANT – (HSC/HS 1) Housekeeping-MALE
(Salary range $990,843 - $1,177,801 per annum and any allowance (s) attached to the post)

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisory Hospital Attendant, the incumbent is primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Hospital.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • School Leaving Certificate (Secondary Education)
  • Completion of any certified training in Housekeeping/Public Area Hygiene Attendant.
  • At least 2 CSEC subjects, would be a definite asset
  • At least one (01) year experience within the hospital environment or service industry
Specific Knowledge & Skills:
  • Physical Fitness
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to respect patient confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral format
  • Good time management skills
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Sweeps, polishes and wipes of all floor spaces. Maintains such in an acceptable condition during the day.
  • Carries out daily dusting of all furniture.
  • Polishes all furniture at least once per month or more, as is deemed necessary.
  • Cobwebs all rooms, verandahs and open spaces.
  • Cleans and maintains bathrooms during clinic hours, ensuring that there is no overflow of waste on the floor or from the bins.
  • Cleans windows which can be conveniently reached from the floor.
  • Takes care of potted plants inside the Hospital.
  • Cleans shelves and cupboards once per month or as often as required.
  • Washes and irons of linen used at the hospital, which includes sheets, towels, staff gowns.
  • Cleaning of instruments used by health personnel as directed.
  • Assists with ushering of patients to various service delivery areas within the health facility.
  • Assists in maintaining order in the waiting areas.
  • Assists nursing/medical personnel during clinics or as required.
  • Responsible for maintenance and storage of all gowns, linen, etc for the hospital.
  • Prepares the hospital in time for daily sessions, such as the provision and laying out of bed line for examination tables/couches, the provision of toiletries and gowns for staff, etc.
  • Displays appropriate safety signs when cleaning to avoid injury to staff and patients.
  • Deep cleans of the hospital once per month or as directed by Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor

Special conditions associated with the job:
  • Physically demanding environment, which requires the skills and ability to do heavy lifting, and safely manoeuvre patients, wheelchairs, trolleys and other equipment.
  • Possible exposure to bodily fluids, exposure to body fluids and soiled utility, therefore use of protective gears maybe required in some instances.
  • Duties and assignments are on a shift basis, and the incumbent, may be required to work extended hours if the need arises.

Attendant (Housekeeping) (HSC/HS 1) at the Annotto Bay Hospital.

Summary:
Under the general direction of the Supervisory Hospital Attendant/Hospital Administrator, the Hospital
Attendant ensures clean and safe environment for patients and staff through the infection control policy and
procedures.

Required Qualification & Experience:

  • Completed school to grade 9 level
  • Valid food handler’s permit
  • Two (2) years working independently in a housekeeping role.

Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of excellent customer service delivery
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures for using specialized chemicals
  • Working Knowledge of Infection Control
  • Knowledge of organizing and prioritizing work
  • Working Knowledge of Health Hazards
Key responsibilities will include but not limited:
  • Check and receive ward on each shift
  • Ensure cleaning agents are available in your assigned area
  • Mop and sanitize the floor.
  • Polish and shine required areas
  • Clean general areas
  • Clean and monitor lavatories
  • Assist with sterilizing soiled linens
  • Washing and ironing of bed linens, pantry linens and other linens for facility on a daily basis
  • Collect linens from laundry
  • Empty of garbage bins and properly disposing of garbage

  • Check inventory and store utensils appropriate
REMUNERATION PACKAGE PER ANNUM:

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Orderly.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • School Leaving Certificate (Secondary Education)
  • English Language in GCE O’Level/CXC at the General Proficiency level would be an asset
  • At least one (01) year experience within the hospital environment or service industry
  • Be physically fit and able to bend, stand and lift.
  • A valid Food Handlers Permit

Hospital Attendant - Housekeeping (Trelawny, JM) - Falmouth Public General Hospital

 Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Hospital Attendant - (Housekeeping) HSC/HS 1.

The Trelawny Health Services (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health and Wellness) requires Hospital Attendants (Housekeeping) (HSC/HS 1) for the Falmouth Public General Hospital (Field Hospital).

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, wipe and polish floors daily
  • Clean staff and patient restrooms daily
  • General dusting of furniture's and equipments
  • Cobweb, wipe wall and clean windows
  • Collect linen from the laundry, check and deliver same to wards on a daily basis
  • Ensure that general cleanliness of the institution is maintained

Qualifications

  • Certification in Housekeeping
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in similar capacity

Requirements

  • Proactive work attitude and good interpersonal relations skills
  • The ability to work on own initiative
  • Good mental health
