ROLE AND CORE FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
Under the general direction of the Registered Nurse, the Health Technician shall have responsibility for
providing assistance with the screening of patients.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Four (4) GCE O’Levels/CXCs including English and a numeric subject
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology
  • At least one (1) years’ experience as a Health Technician
  • Nurses Aid training would be an asset
  • Any equivalent combination of qualification and experience

Clinical Pharmacist (Kingston, Jamaica) - National Health Fund

CLINICAL PHARMACIST
PHARMACY SERVICES DELIVERY DIVISION


ROLES AND FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
  • Develop, implement, co-ordinate and manage a clinical pharmacy programme.
  • Manage medication therapy in direct patient care settings, whether practicing independently or in consultation/collaboration with other health care professionals.
  • Specify and maintain the proper techniques and special protection needed for storage and preservation of therapeutic agents.
  • Participate in clinician led ward rounds as the drug expert, ensuring adherence to the Ministry of Health and Wellness’s Vital Essential and Necessary (VEN) List of Pharmaceuticals.
  • Provision of current Drug Information which may include updates, journals and literature files, as well as to present drug reviews to staff and other health care professionals on a periodic basis.
  • Assist with the provision of drug counselling on wards to discharge patients to enhance proper use of medications, and promote adherence.
  • Document clinical interventions and cost avoidance made to improve therapeutic outcomes and reduce hospital stay.
  • Maintain quality assurance systems to ensure the maintenance of standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Doctorate in Pharmacy Degree
  • Post Graduate Training in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica
  • Registered Preceptor by the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica.
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management- an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience as a Pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Clinical Pharmacy.
SKILLS AND SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES:
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of pharmacy software, Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • In-depth and current knowledge on drugs, medical procedures and therapies, diagnosis and disease states as well as pharmacokinetics.
  • Knowledge of norms and standards related to the Ministry of Health and Wellness Drug Policy eg. VEN List and Dangerous Drugs.
  • Knowledge of World Health Organization’s good manufacturing practices.
  • Excellent decision making time management and supervisory skills.
  • Display good leadership qualities and maintenance of professional standards.

Registered Nurse (Kingston, Jamaica) - National Health Fund

ROLE AND FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Health Promotion and Public Relations, the Registered Nurse shall have responsibility for providing screening services to patients at the community days, health fairs and other events planned by the National Health Fund.

CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate the screening programme of the Fund
  • Ensure adequate preparations are made for the screening of patients
  • Counsel “patients” at outreach events
  • Make referrals for patients with abnormal results
  • Liaise with Physicians re pending ECG’s and then do follow up and referral for those with abnormal results
  • Make preparation for mailing pending ECG results
  • Do follow up with persons showing abnormal results
  • Analysis of data and generate reports
  • Ensure that the instruments used for measurement are regularly calibrated
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Health Promotions and Public Relations

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Registered Nurse licensed by the Nursing Council of Jamaica
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurses’ Training Programme
  • At least two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse

Administrative Assistant (Kingston, Jamaica) - National Health Fund

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Audit Division)

ROLE AND FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

The incumbent shall have responsibility for providing secretarial and administrative services support to the Chief Internal Auditor and to assist in ensuring an effective and efficient Audit Division.

CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a log of all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Assist with the preparation of compliance, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for submission to the Audit Committee.
  • Prepare letters, memoranda and other documentation for the Department.
  • Take notes or minutes of meetings and prepare for circulation.
  • Coordinate and maintain an effective filing system for the Department, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Liaise with managers and other department members with regards to submission of reports and other required documentation, to facilitate timely submission to the Audit Committee.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the Department’s objectives by completing assignments as needed.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments as directed by the CIA.
  • Perform any other related duties that may be assigned to achieve the Company’s goals and objectives.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH JOB:
  • Required to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends (when required) in order to meet stipulated deadlines.
  • Normal office, retail and warehouse environment.
  • Intra-island travel to retail pharmacies.
  • Individual must have a reliable motor vehicle
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent qualifications
  • CPS or other equivalent professional secretarial qualification would be an asset

  • A minimum of one (1) year working experience in a pharmacy environment.
SKILLS AND SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES:

ROLE AND FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

Under the direction of the Human Resource Manager, the Receptionist Operator is directly responsible for the operations of the telephone PBX and the reception area of the NHF. The Receptionist Operator will: 

  • Operate the telephone communications equipment of the NHF.
  • Receive all calls with courtesy and tact and route as required.
  • Take messages for staff if they are unavailable.
  • Maintain a list of frequently called numbers to facilitate quick contact.
  • Ensure the telephone communications equipment and lines are working properly.
  • Report all malfunctions in the equipment and lines to the service provider and follow-up to ensure they are corrected.
  • Be aware of basic information about the NHF to respond to queries from the public.
  • Greet all visitors to the Office and direct them as necessary.
  • Process incoming mail/packages for dispatch
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Human Resource Manager, the Director, Human Resource & Administration and the CEO.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills
  • Accuracy in receiving and relaying information and messages
