The North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Wellness, with responsibility for the management and delivery of Public Health Services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland invites applications from suitable qualified persons to fill the position of GARDENER/GROUNDSMAN (LMO/TS 1) at the Port Maria Hospital and Portland Health Department.
- Primary School Level of education.
- A minimum of six (6) months in a similar capacity.
- Good and effective working relations exist with other staff members.
- Willingness and hardworking.
- Work performed to the highest possible standard.
- Pleasant and even-tempered.
- Ability to safely operate trimmers, mowers and other equipment used in maintaining the grounds.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of horticulture/agriculture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Establishing and maintaining attractive, healthy lawns, gardens and grounds.
- Mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizing/mulching on a regular basis.
- Recognizing the need for new vegetation, transplanting and watering plants.
- Attending to the proper upkeep of the parking area, fences and borders.
- Ensuring that all tools are kept clean and functional.
- Safely storing tools in the area provided when not in use.
- Removing garbage from collection receptacles and deposit in house provided for removal by garbage collectors. Note well, infectious waste safely stored for the incinerator.
- Performing high dusting as required by supervisor or designate.
- Keeping windows clean.
- Regularly cleaning outside drains and grease traps.
- Performing any other duties as required by the Maintenance Supervisor.
