- Advise diabetic and hypertensive patients of the importance of regularly taking their medications and keeping their clinic appointments.

Assistant Nutritionist (Portland, Jamaica) - Portland Health Department (NERHA)
The North East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking a dynamic, proactive, experienced and analytical individual with strong team building skills to fill the position of Assistant Nutritionist at the Portland Health Department.
The ideal candidate will meet the following educational criteria:- Diploma or Associate degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from a recognized tertiary institution. Or
- Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from a recognized tertiary institution (Without approved Dietetics/Nutrition Internship or Supervised Practice Program).
- Two (2) years working experiences
- Thorough knowledge of the practices, principles, and applications of nutrition assessment and diet
- counselling
- Thorough knowledge of the practices, principles, and approaches of nutrition and health education.
- Knowledge of the development of health education materials taking into consideration target audience, age, readership and literacy levels.
- Thorough understanding of the techniques of programme development, planning, implementing and
- evaluating
- Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral format.

Key Responsibility Areas:
- Establishing and managing rehabilitation programmes for malnourished & HIV exposed children;
- Supervising Community Health Aides (CHAs) regarding nutrition programmes;
- Providing nutrition assessment and therapeutic diet counseling for clients with chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCD) including diabetes and hypertension and for persons with HIV/AIDS;
- Managing the supplementary feeding and Replacement feeding programmes;
- Providing basic in-service training for health care staff;
- Providing nutrition education to clinic and public populations; and
- Advising Government & other Agencies on appropriate nutrition programmes
REMUNERATION PACKAGE PER ANNUM:
Salary Scale: $ 2,795,163– 3,322,571 per annum

Summary:
Under the general direction of the Parish Administrator, the Clinic Attendant ensures clean and safe environment for patients and staff through the infection control policy and procedures.
Required Qualification & Experience:
- Completed school to grade 9 level
- Valid food handler’s permit
- Two (2) years working independently in a housekeeping role.
- Knowledge of excellent customer service delivery
