OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF WORK

Under the general supervision of the Transport Officer, the incumbent collects and delivers packages, letters and any other documents as required; conducts transactions for the Hospital as required; undertakes general transportation assignments and conducts routine checks to ensure the efficient upkeep and maintenance of the motor-cycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance of Motor Bike (Fleet Vehicle):
  • Delivers and collects mail/documents and/or office supplies.
  • Complete and submit daily assignment log;
  • Ensures that the motor bike is logged in and out on a daily basis;
  • Report mechanical and other defects of the motor bike to Supervisor;
  • Arranges for motor bike to be taken to the garage for repairs and to the Examination Depot for certification of fitness;
  • Inspect work done by repairer for satisfactory completion
  • Conducts transactions at any agency or organization when instructed.

JOB SPECIFICATION/COMPETENCIES [Minimum]

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience
  • Completion of secondary level education
  • License for operating a motorbike (at least two years)
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar capacity
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent motorbike riding skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to exercise initiative within the constraints of the job
  • Ability to communicate with persons at all levels
  • Ability to carry out routine maintenance to motorbike.

Bearer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Central Medical Labs

 


The Bearer will be required to ensure the proper handling and transportation of specimens, reports and other packages in a timely manner in order to meet the required standard of our internal and external clients and maintain quality customer satisfaction.

About the Job

You will be required to:

  • Ensure the proper delivery of reports 
  • Ensure the proper pick up and delivery of specimens, and other packages
  • Always observe proper safety precautions when making deliveries or collecting packages and during transport
  • Always observe proper temperature control procedures when transporting refrigerated or frozen specimens
  • Ensure that all STAT reports and samples are picked up and delivered in a timely manner
  • Always ensure proper cell phone contact with Head Office for smooth and efficient operations
  • Assist the Registry with the update of Doctors' lists and addresses
  • Liaise with Central Processing and other technical departments
  • Ensure that various medical centres and doctor's offices have an adequate supply of lab request forms
  • Ensure that own motor cycles, motor vehicles are serviced regularly and are fit and licensed as road-worthy
  • Perform any other related duties

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School Certificate/Diploma
  • Owner of a motor cycle/ motor vehicle in reliable condition
  • Ability to relate well to all levels of staff
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively follow instructions
  • Experience of at least one (1) year in a similar position.
