The Department of Correctional Services invites applications from males and females to be trained as Correctional Officer.
Prerequisites:
- Four (4) CSEC/GCE O' level, SSC (ranges 4 and 5) subjects including English Language
- Jamaica National Service Corp Graduate Certification is an asset
- Must be prepared to work Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
- Must be prepared to work on shifts
- Successful in all the following areas:
- Pre- medical assessment
- Entrance assessment
- Interviews
- Physical assessment
- Fingerprint vetting
- Polygraph
- Laboratory Investigation (Blood Test)
- Medical examination
Other Requirements:
- Must be from the ages 18-35 years old
- Males - 140 lbs - 160 lbs; minimum height of 5 feet 7 inches
- Females - 125 lbs - 140 lbs; minimum height of 5 feet 5 inches
- Mentally and physically fit
- Must be fully immunized (proof required)
- No visible tattoos, no earrings for males and one (1) pair for females
Stipend paid during training - $20,000.00 fortnightly
Upon successful completion of training:
Basic salary - $867,723 per annum housing allowance, $354,795.00 per annum
