Physiotherapy Assistant/Practical Nurse
A physiotherapy assistant or physical therapy aide supports the physical therapists in helping patients who are recovering from injuries manage pain and regain mobility. Their main duties include preparing therapy equipment for appointments, massaging and stretching patients' muscles and sanitizing therapy areas.
Physiotherapy Assistant Job Responsibilities:
- Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist
- Contribute to physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care issues
- Administers treatment programs for patients as directed by physical therapist
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities
- Helps patients in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses
- Assist patients when moving to and from the therapy area
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
- Maintains production objectives by noting current treatment trends and monitoring actual physical therapy sessions rendered to production objectives
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading periodicals and maintaining personal networks
- Take patients' vital signs as requested

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing and or transferring patients

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved school of practical (vocational) nursing
- Basic computer competency
- Acceptance of the philosophy and goals of this company
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement
- Aptitude for continued training and education
