Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining the gardens and compound at the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) in a good condition, at all times, and also, for performing such duties as require the attention of the Groundsman.
Main Functions:
- Keeping the internal and external grounds and buildings of the ODPEM clean and attractive
- Preparing the conference room and other meeting rooms for the board and other meetings
- Assisting in the store facility (movement of inventory items)
- Sanitizing areas to ensure a healthy environment
- Operating mechanical equipment i.e. lawn mower, sprinkler, chain saws and other garden tools and doing minor repairs
Functional Competencies:
- Be able to operate mechanical equipment i.e. lawn mower, sprinkler, chain saws and other garden tools and do minor repairs
- Knowledgeable in landscaping
- Knowledge of propagation, growing and caring of plants
- Knowledgeable in the operations of generators
- Possess the physical capability for the role

- Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff
- Must demonstrate high standard of service delivery to meet customer's expectations
- Must demonstrate sound ethical standards showing consistency with values and attitudes geared towards the building of trust and credibility

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Completed elementary education up to grade 9 level or equivalent
- Two (2) years experience in a similar capacity
