The St. James Public Health Services (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness) is currently seeking to employ a Registered General Nurse (HPC/RN 1) for the St. James Public Health Services. Reporting to the Nurse Manager / Specialist Nurse, the Registered General Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care to the population served by the health facility through the use of all acquired nursing skills. The incumbent will also be expected to:

• Assess, diagnose, classify, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of the individual client
• Supervise Enrolled Assistant Nurses, basic Nursing Students, auxiliary & support staff
• Participate in clinical teaching and evaluation of nursing students & support staff. Teach clients
• & their families health promotion and disease prevention skills
• Prepare & present case studies and participate in research

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

• Ability to provide effective leadership and work as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent communication skills

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• B. Sc. in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
• Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
• One (1) year experience post registration
