Mission of Sight is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional clinical care and oversee essential administrative operations at our Surgery Center.

REGISTERED NURSE – SURGERY CENTRE MONTEGO BAY
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum 5-10 years of nursing experience; experience in ophthalmology is an asset.
- Operating Theatre Nursing Certification an asset
- Prior administrative or coordination experience in a healthcare setting is required.
- Proficient in Google Suite
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Commitment to compassionate patient care and community service.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to support mission trips, weekend clinics, or extended hours when required.
Clinical (RN) Duties:
- Perform preoperative and postoperative patient assessments.
- Assist ophthalmologists and surgeons during minor procedures and surgeries.
- Administer medications and eye drops as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and record vital signs and patient progress.
- Conduct vision screenings and assist with diagnostic testing.
- Prepare patients for eye exams, surgeries, and other procedures.
- Educate patients on eye care, medication regimens, and post-operative instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in patient records.
- Manage infection control practices, sterilization protocols, and general clinical cleanliness.
- Ensure the appropriate stock, ordering use of clinical supplies and instruments.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first-line intervention
- Responsible for surgery center readiness prior to the arrival of each Mission Team, ensuring, sanitization, supply, and physical readiness of the center.
- Prepare reports on clinical metrics, inventory, and patient care outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, and National surgical center requirements.
- Maintain accreditation/certification standards and prepare for inspections and audits.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Health to ensure the building, surgical theaters and standard protocols satisfy regulatory requirements and adhere to all requested compliances
- Implement and monitor quality assurance program (QAPI - Quality Assurance Performance Improvement), infection control protocols, performance improvement and patient safety standards.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new clinical and administrative staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, quality assurance initiatives, and continuing education.
- Maintaining record and documentation to support the preparation of impact reports related to mission services to be sent to donors and stakeholders
