JAMAICA FIRE BRIGADE RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS

Do you wish to join the Jamaica Fire Brigade?  Here are a few things you should know!

Pre-employment Requirements

Prospective candidates must:

• Be a Jamaican citizen
• Be between the ages of 18 to 28 years old
• Be a minimum of 165 cm (5ft 6ins) tall
• Be medically fit
• Be the holder of academic certificates with minimum passes in:

1. Four (4) GCE 'O' Level - Grades A - C or
2. Four CXC subjects - Grades 1 -3 (General Proficiency) or 
3. Five (5) SSC subjects or equivalent

*Please note English Language and Mathematics are compulsory.

 Entry Tests and Screening

Prospective candidates must successfully complete:

• A written Entrance Examination covering Dictation, Mathematics, English Language, General Knowledge and Mental Ability test.
• A Physical Agility Test which includes a height requirement test.
• An interview
• A comprehensive background check looking into past employment, character profile and criminal history/Police record
• A medical examination including dental state, blood test, vision test and drug screening
