Qualifications
  • Hold the minimum qualification of a BSc Pharmacy from an accredited university.

Responsibilities
  • Routine review of drug orders for appropriateness and safety.
  • Counselling patients on correct use of medications, warnings, contraindications and answering drug related queries.
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations of patient therapies to ensure patient compliance and favourable outcomes with the use of drugs.
  • Evaluate response of patients with chronic conditions to respective drug therapies and make recommendations to physicians where necessary.
  • Supervise the manufacture and compounding of extemporaneous preparations in accordance with medication order requests.

  • Ensure the pharmacy area is operated in accordance with the laws governing pharmacy practice in Jamaica.

Job Purpose
Within the scope of the infection control team the post holder will operationally lead the prevention and control of infection within the assigned institution by:
  • Directing and administering Infection Control programmes for Nursing, Medical, Paramedical and other support groups in the health facility
  • Providing infection prevention and control advice and support to staff, patients and visitors
  • Leading the development of education and training programmes for all disciplines of staff in relation to infection control to improve compliance with a focus on best practice.
  • Leading the development, implementation and auditing of infection prevention and control policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
A. Management/Administration
  • Leads the development of an annual Infection Prevention and Control work plan reflecting the priorities identified through the audits conducted
  • Leads the compilation of Infection Control Reports as appropriate
  • Reports to relevant authorities i.e. Hospital Administration, Regional Health Authority, and Ministry of Health Epidemiology Unit on weekly/ monthly basis reportable diseases and infections, and interventions such as eradication and fumigation.
  • Leads the development and implementation of an annual audit (more frequent if necessary). This includes development of audit tools, data collection, analysis and dissemination.
  • Contributes to and participates in national programmes of audit and research on communicable and non-communicable diseases.
B. Clinical
  • Provides infection control advice, support and information to all healthcare personnel, patients and visitors to minimize the spread of infection.
  • Conducts active surveillance throughout the health facility to detect and record the occurrence of hospital acquired infections on a systematic and current basis.
  • Provides relevant information to patients, relatives and carers who have acquired an infection whilst in hospital e.g. the need for barrier nursing and the management of an infection within the family context to prevent spread.
  • Takes lead responsibility for the Infection Control Manual
C. Education & Training
  • Develops training programmes in keeping with local priorities and national directives
  • Conducts education and training programmes for all levels and disciplines of staff
  • Provides infection control resources for staff, patients and visitors and promotes interest in the control of infection.
  • Educates, advises and informs patients, visitors and members of the general public on
 infection prevention and control

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Assistant, the Customer Care Assistant is responsible to provide frontline service at the hospital in accordance with established standards. The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health &

Reporting to the Medical Officer (Health), the successful candidate will be responsible for the
Primary Health Care Nursing Services in St. Ann.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Certificate/Diploma/Bachelor Science Degree in General Nursing from an accredited school
  • Certificate in Midwifery
  • Diploma/B. Sc. Degree in Public Health Nursing

Human Resource
  • Consulting with Regional Nursing Supervisor, Medical Officer (Health), Parish Manager, Personnel and other officers on matters requiring their expertise.
  • Evaluating the performance of Public Health Nurse Level II, Midwife Supervisor or District Midwife Level III and reviews the performance of the Public Health Nurse Level I.
  • Initiating and or facilitating counselling sessions of staff on issues both work and non-work related.
Education
  • Conducting training needs assessment of nursing and midwifery personnel and preparation of parish succession plan.
  • Management of the continuing education activities or training to promote the effective performance of team members.
  • Facilitating the practicum of students from varying programmes and serves as preceptor.
Research
  • Contributing to the body of nursing knowledge by conducting and critically analyzing research geared towards improving evidence-based practice.
