Receptionist (Kingston, Jamaica) - Early Childhood Commission

 The Early Childhood Commission (ECC), a statutory body of the Ministry of Education and Youth with responsibility to regulate the operation of Early Childhood Institutions, is seeking to identify highly motivated and dynamic individuals to fill the following post:

Receptionist (OPS/TO 1)



Purpose of Job:

Reporting to the Office Administrator, the Receptionist is responsible for receiving visitors to the Early Childhood Commission's (ECC's) offices; answering incoming telephone calls and directing them to the appropriate individual; placing outgoing calls and providing basic information on the services of the ECC to callers/visitors.

Key responsibility areas:
  • Receives, greets and directs visitors to the ECC's offices
  • Receives complaints, questions and requests in person or by telephone; provides the necessary information where possible or refers persons to the relevant authorities
  • Receives and routes incoming telephone calls
  • Records and delivers messages for staff
  • Places overseas and cellular calls for authorized staff members
  • Maintains records of overseas and cellular calls placed
  • Receives and sorts incoming/outgoing mail and arranges for their dispatch/distribution; liaises with the Driver/Messenger accordingly
  • Maintains the log and dispatch books for correspondence and packages
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Four (4) CXC/GCE passes at the general proficiency level including English Language and Mathematics
  • One (1) years working experience in a similar capacity
Remuneration: Salary Scale $648,352.00 - $770,686.00 per annum, and any other allowances attached to the post.
