Career Opportunity:
Jamaica has an estimated prevalence of 1.6% among the general population. Based on modeled
estimates and case based surveillance data, it is estimated that 29,000 persons are currently living
with HIV in Jamaica. Approximately 84% of the estimated number is aware of their status. This
is followed by a large gap in the continuum of care with 43% of those diagnosed on ARVs and
55% of those on treatment being virally suppressed.
- The timely collection of medical data and statistics
- Ensuring that all institution(s) are represented by data received
- Collation of data into summary format for use at the parish /region
- Utilize the data collection tools and ensure that data is of the highest quality
- Accurate and timely update of patient files unto data base within 24 hours
- Participate in workshops and Quality Improvement Activities
- Provide monthly status updates on files maintained
- working knowledge of spreadsheets
- working knowledge of statistical calculation related to health information
- Good typing skills (at least 30 words per minute)
- Working knowledge in the use of Windows based computers
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office
Plus
- Five (5) subjects in CXC/ GCE including Mathematics and English ( Information
technology / computer studies would be a plus)
- good human relations skills
- good analytical skills
- good time management skills
- ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- May be required to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends.
- Required to keep accurate log of data received and entries done

- All required activities are efficiently completed
Time frame for contract: Renewable time based contracts will be utilized, number of hours and
days of work will be specified based on the assigned Treatment Site.
