Associate Psychologist (Kingston, Jamaica) - Sonia Wynter & Associates


 The Associate providers diagnosis and psychotherapeutic treatment utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to clients 24 years to 35 years. The Associate provides interventions that are ethical and always have the client's best interest in mind.

The Associate is willing to work with young adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, phobias, stress,,life transitions, communication challenges, relationship concerns, family issues, anger, aggression, low self esteem, etc.

Time commitment is expected to grow from part-time hours of approximately four (4) face to face hours per week to full-time thirty (30) face to face hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to incorporate multi cultural perspectives and issues into therapeutic conversations
  • Experience or training in facilitating group counseling sessions
  • Demonstrated willingness and/or experience with individuals from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences
  • Experience providing risk assessment and crisis
Requirements:
  • Master's/Doctorate in Psychology/Counselling/Mental Health Discipline
  • Trained (or is willing to be trained) in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with focus on Depression, Anxiety and Trauma
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience counselling adults
  • Trained in providing Telehealth Services
  • Licensed with the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-aware, understanding of own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege, and stereotypes
  • Ability to navigate cultural issues as they relate to trans and cisgender realities, sexual orientation and preferences, and socioeconomic considerations
