The North-East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness, with responsibility for the management and delivery of Public Health Services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of REGISTERED MIDWIFE – HPC/MW 1 for the Port Maria Hospital. Reporting to the Ward/Nurse Manager, the incumbent gives advanced level of care to patients who need midwifery care before, during and after the birth of a baby.
- B.Sc in Midwifery OR
- B. Sc in Nursing with a Certificate/Diploma in Midwifery from an accredited institution
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Identifies nursing needs of each patient and make care plan
- Observes, reports, records signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors and progress of the patient and intervenes appropriately
- Assigns the staff members and delegated duties according to skill and competence
- Executes therapeutic orders intelligently and appropriately
- Participates in ward conferences
- Interviews and Counsels patients and relatives as needs indicated
- Supervises and participates in antenatal and postnatal care and deliveries
- Liaises with medical, paramedical and the primary care personnel in promoting linkages and discharge planning
- Assumes responsibility for ordering and storage of Ward stocks, dangerous drugs and carried out handing over procedure
- Maintains physical safety and emotional support for patients
Salary Scale: $2,585,526 – $3,073,378 per annum
