Data Entry Clerk (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Clarendon Health Department (SRHA)

 The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position at CLARENDON HEALTH DEPARTMENT: DATA ENTRY CLERK (MIS/IT 2-Pay Band 4)- ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH UNIT - VACANT (Salary range $1,550,136 – $2,084,761 per annum and any applicable allowances).

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Chief Public Health Inspector/Deputy Chief Public Health Inspector, the incumbent will provide support services to the Environmental Health Unit in processing of the appropriate permits/licenses for the operation of various establishments in accordance with the Public Health Act.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) subjects at CXC/GCE O' Level inclusive of English Language and Mathematics
  • Certification in Information Technology/Computer Science
  • Minimum two (2) years work experience in the field of data management
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
  • Working Knowledge of office procedures
  • Working Knowledge of Primary Care Health System
  • Working Knowledge of the application procedure for permits/licenses under the Public Health Act
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • PC operating skills (Microsoft office and other database applications)

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Receiving and documenting applications for Food Handlers Permits for the various Health Districts.
  • Preparing annual, bi-monthly and monthly schedule for Food Handlers, Barbers and Hairdressers sessions.
  • Processing and preparing applications for Food Handlers Permits (new and renewals).
  • Sorting, logging and distributing completed permits to the relevant Health Districts.
  • Maintaining a filing system and database for permits, new and renewal.
  • Receiving and directing calls and queries relating to food handlers training and permit to the relevant personnel for action.
  • Assisting with the photocopying, printing and scanning of documents.
